Workshops

SMALL GROUP WORKSHOPS

60-90mins / up to 8 participants

These sessions foster an enriching environment where peer discussions flourish, and participants genuinely appreciate and respect each other's insights, guidance, and viewpoints. There are two formats: in-person gatherings at your London office location, or online sessions where everyone participates from the comfort of their own screen. To maintain the integrity of the experience, I do not offer hybrid workshops that combine both in-person and online particpants.

GIVING AND RECEIVING FEEDBACK / 90min

When we receive constructive feedback, we learn as we work and learn from our mistakes. Feedback can be positive - praise and recognition - or negative; both are important. This workshop aims to help you give and receive clear feedback.

OUTLINE:

  • The importance of feedback

  • How to give positive feedback

  • How to give constructive feedback

  • Models to use when giving or receiving feedback

PRODUCTIVE CONFLICT / 90 min

Productive conflict can lead to constructive discussions, fresh ideas, and improvements in any organisation. However, performance suffers when conflicts between managers, employees, and teams become dysfunctional. This workshop aims to help us embrace conflict as necessary and constructive and give tips on dealing with it.

OUTLINE:

  • Inclusion and psychological safety

  • What is conflict, how to identify it, conflict debt

  • Modes of conflict and patterns

  • Approaches for difficult conversations

FEEDBACK:

“The workshop made me reflect on my personal inherent attitude to how I respond to conflict on both a professional and an interpersonal level. It is very well structured as it taps into the foundations of our upbringing, giving grounds to interesting conversations which can also act as ice breakers for members of the same team, allowing them to get to know each other better. It was interesting to find out more about other people’s natural attitude to conflict and to see how they would play out on a professional setting, having experienced them on a personal setting. I enjoyed the example around giving feedback that Karen demonstrated to the group, which I will come in handy in the future. I recommend this workshop to more senior level management individuals, as it will help them understand their workforce better and how their own attitude to conflict affects their greater team.”

DELEGATION SKILLS / 90min

Delegation is more than simply telling someone what to do. When done correctly, delegation can improve your productivity and your team's. This workshop aims to strengthen delegation skills by providing a structured framework.

OUTLINE:

  • The seven steps of delegation

  • Delegation levels

  • Confidence traps - too much or not enough?

STRESS MASTERY / 60min

Mental health has always been a cause for concern in the architectural industry. By understanding what stress is and how it affects us, we can appreciate stress and adjust our responses to have a better relationship with it.

OUTLINE:

  • What is stress

  • Our stress mindset

  • Strategies for mastering stress

BUILDING YOUR NETWORK / 90min

Relationships are one of the most valuable currencies that architects have today. Your network or “powerbase” allows you to make things happen, learn about opportunities before others, and gain access to resources and information that others don’t have. This workshop will guide you in assessing, improving, and strengthening your “powerbase”.

OUTLINE:

  • Create an awareness of what it takes to build strong professional relationships proactively

  • Look at ways to improve your current Powerbase

  • Understand how to assess relationships and develop strategies to strengthen and improve them

  • Kick-start creating your future Powerbase and what needs to shift in you to make this happen.

FEEDBACK

“As a mid-career woman working in this field there are spaces and activities that help us to build a little bit of confidence. Yesterday was one occasion!”

“Karen was very open and authentic; her visualization exercises about imagining the future were great.”

“I like the approach - getting attendees to reflect and find their own answers rather than a ready made solution to building a network.”

PERSONAL RESILIENCE / 90min

There will always be challenges that knock us in our career - such as promotion, redundancy, illness, new job or stretching out of our comfort zone. Good resilience capabilities make a huge difference in how we recover from setbacks, move forward, and how quickly.
